I am now a dog owner - yipee! On Sunday I went Butterball Farm in Citra, Florida to adopt my sweet precious Jack Russell now called Fern. We are already inseparable! She is 5 years old and is retired from breeding. Upon telling Grandmother Mary Elizabeth Fern's age she sharply respond, "You know that's about the time dogs die!" Are we not surprise by this hilarious response?!
As I type, she is lying by my side tuckered out from our get-acquainted walk around the neighborhood. She has such a calm disposition...quite rare in the JR breed :) She's a non-barker, non-jumper, non-crazy wonderful dog - just what I wanted. And now she's settling in her new home and I love her with all my heart, but the best part is she's already given me hers.
with fern leaving the farm where she was born
we came back to ocala for the night and she did so well...she and roxie got along great!

I know I'm not supposed to get teary eyed about a dog, but Fern doggy dog is just too sweet. Because of her long hair, she kind of looks like Lily. Maybe they are long lost cousins? Maybe.
xoxoxo and welcome home to Fern,
Lane
I'm glad I came running out of the house to meet Fern! She's so cute and lucky to have a new home with you. Let me know if you ever want me to let her out while you are at work.....and I won't even charge you. :)

Mary she is sooo cute!! Congrats on your new friend!
Lane #1: as dreamers, anything is possible. I truly believe Fern and Lily are long lost cousins :)
Lane #2: a good dog-walker is a hot commodity these days! I may take you up on that offer!
Ella: Fern cannot wait to kiss your face and snuggle in the bed with you! She already loves the electric blanket.
Kbeener: Fern is staying with Uncle Michael for your wedding unless you want her to walk down the aisle and carry your rings.
**is it cool to comment on your own blog?
