a lovely little weekend

Happy Valentine's Day...yesterday!

My weekend consisted of fun, family, and food. M&D were in town for their monthly visit and it was special to have them here for this holiday weekend. On Saturday, along with the Micas, we traveled to Thomasville to have lunch at Jonah's Fish & Grits and do some antique browsing. It was delicious shrimp & grits all around + David had the catfish. And of course, we had the fried green tomatoes topped with sundried tomatoes, feta, and balsamic! We also spotted the critters' vehicle and said our hellos as they were eating lunch next door at Liam's. All the downtown shops were having a great sidewalk sale and we managed to pick up a few, most necessary treasures.

On Sunday, I celebrated a sweet Valentine's Day with my Valentine, David. At my request, we cooked dinner at my house last night. We came up with the menu and shopped together but then he informed me he was going to cook - so I obliged. I took to the couch with my new gift...a 1969 edition of Vogue's Book of Etiquette. It was a delightful surprise and I am fascinated by my new read {more on that later}. It also will have a home on my new end table {see final sentence}. We had pecan crusted mahi, orzo, and roasted tomatoes {pictures to come...}. It was some of the best fish I have ever had! We had dessert from my favorite French bakery Au Peche Mignon.

hydrangeas from my valentine :)

best mahi ever!

Today marks the one year anniversary of me and Fern :) We've had a frustrating few months together but things are on the mend. I forget all the naughty things she has done when I look at her sweet brown doe eyes and see her wagging tail.

Throughout the weekend M&D helped me with some things around my house - a big thank you! Therefore, a post on my new couch is getting closer to its debut...
