Bright and early Saturday morning David and I ventured out to some local garage and estate sales. First of all, it was way too early. But I eventually got over my mood and all was much more enjoyable. I was snubbed twice on some really good finds. Let be more specific. For example, David's neighbors just happened to have a garage sale that morning. We were some of the first on the scene and I spotted a beautiful silver-like pitcher - sterling to be correct. So I ask how much? I made the transaction for a whopping $5. We continued to chat for a few more minutes, as nice neighbors should, and then before I could react the mother came and took the pitcher out of my hands and told me she had made a mistake. What?!?! In a nutshell, she meant to sell it for $250 at a g.a.r.a.g.e. sale. Strike 1. Strike 2 was with a patio set and a little less dramatic. However, I did come home with a gently used green Lacoste shirt for 5 bones and I was happy. For the rest of the day we had lunch out with David's family, a search for a misplaced iPhone {I will not mention any names}, and then it was time to go back to the Micas for a seafood fest.
We had some family friends over and a yummy dinner of grilled grouper, jumbo shrimp with a great tapenade on top, and smoked gruyere cheese grits. And after dinner, we dyed Easter eggs! Well, I just watched and thus deemed myself the photographer. It was quite the production and there were some good and not-so-good eggs! And Martha Stewart if you're reading this: your lace dyeing techniques don't work!
Sunday morning was spent at a joyous Easter celebration at church with no electricity. Yes, that's right power was off all over Midtown Tallahassee Sunday morning. Right as I was drying my hair...off. We headed back over to the Micas for a wonderful afternoon of cooking, eating and celebrating. Then, it was time to say goodbye to the sisters and take a much. needed. nap.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! And although I was not able to spend it with my family, the Micas graciously treat me as one of theirs and with that I am fulfilled.
