The last few days have been a whirlwind of emotion and events. On Saturday we celebrated the life of Mary Elizabeth McLean Townsend, my grandmother {see she kept all her names!}. We were surrounded by family and friends from near and far. Holly gave a moving and loving eulogy and my cousin Amy Beth spoke eloquently from her heart. Her Presbyterian funeral service would have pleased her. It celebrated her long life and love of her family and Scottish ancestry. I wore one of her vintage hats and her sons, cousins, and grandsons wore their McLean tartan ties in her honor. Her flowers were designed by mom and I and we honored her with a beautiful arrangement of red and magenta roses with fresh magnolia leaves and camellia foliage from Grandmother's yard - she would have loved them. We will miss her all so much but we each have her many anecdotes running through our head at all times. But sister said it perfectly as she ended her remarks:
Grandmother, I will never know anyone as
well-lived, well-learned, and well-loved.
A few days earlier we helped mom celebrate her class Christmas party at Happy Hearts! Sally Kate loved to visit Grandmommy at school...
I loved these snowman party treats
say cheese
a surprise visit by santa...
family picture - santa may or may not have been brother michael!
Back to Saturday, after a wonderful family lunch at our house David and I headed down to the heart of Central Florida for the evening nuptials of our friends Davis and Audrey. We made it in the nick of time. They had a beautiful ceremony and reception at The Ritz in Orlando. We had a fun filled night dancing and toasting wonderful friends...
