We spent our anniversary in Tallahassee and it was just perfect. We spent the entire weekend celebrating and it was just what I had hoped for. I had another wedding cake top made fresh for us to enjoy since I wasn't quite sure a. where the original top was - as in whose freezer? and b. if we even saved it?! It was delicious and we ate it late Saturday night...why save it until Monday the 11th when we can enjoy all weekend long! Our wedding cake was a white cake with buttercream frosting and the fill was buttercream with orange zest and it was just divine.
We had family over for dinner on Sunday night and they toasted David and I with champagne and gifts. After dinner, the moment had come to finally watch our ceremony video. I made everyone watch it and it made.my.year. The ceremony was just as beautiful as I had remembered it. And surprise, surprise I cried again with joy.
On Monday, David and I had a delicious lunch at Kool Beanz followed by an outstanding dinner at Hot and Hot Fish Club back in Birmingham. We sat at the chef's counter at both restaurants and it's our favorite spot to dine. Chef Chris Hastings of Hot and Hot just won Iron Chef against Bobby Flay and was awarded the 2012 James Beard Award. He also happens to be a personal friend of the Ruffles and we met him this memorable night in 2011.
Hats off to the chef! And cheers to our first anniversary!
