Sister's Weekend

As Marcus headed off to another Bachelor Party Weekend, sister and I kicked off a fabulous Sister's Weekend! You'd think we don't see each other often by the amount of emphasis we put on talking about Sister's Weekend but we see each other at least once everyday. Before I get too far into the weekend I must make an internet debut. Holly and Marcus are expected a baby in January :) This probably is no surprise to most because so far they have done a good job at spreading the news. They are beyond thrilled and so is all their doting family! Also, I'll go ahead and make the other important announcement here too...I will not be called Aunt Mary, so please do not start referring to me as this :) I do believe it ages me about 60 years. I've been dabbling in a few names so far and it will most likely come down to the creative name of...Sister. I approve!

Holly and I had a great weekend full of good food, lots of naps, and fun! We went and saw Step Brothers--hilarious! We might not strike you as Will Ferrell comedic lovers, but we are and we don't care who knows it! Actually one of the Radcliffe family's favorite DVD is the Best of Will Ferrell I and II. On Saturday we took a trip to the lovely city of Sopchoppy. Ever heard of that one!? Well it's between here and the Gulf coast....on your way to Wewahitchka. We were going to the Summer's River House on the Ochlockonee River to celebrate our dear friend Kelly's fun in the sun birthday fish fry. (note: Kelly and I became friends in the Interior Design program at FSU. Since we've met she got married, had a precious baby boy Liam in May, and started a wedding and special events floral business called Bella Flora with whom I work for...my part-time gig) The food was good, even though I'm not into fried foods, but the double-cheese grits and the homemade lemon layer cake (her grandmother's recipe) were right up my alley. We had a truly fun, however not in the sun, time and it was so fun to celebrate another friend's special day.

Later that night we ate dinner in true Radcliffe style at 9:00pm. And at Cracker Barrel. Haha. I will now advertise here for the Barrel's seasonal Chicken Tortilla Soup. It. is. delicious. Paul Bruce can attest. It's only offered in the summer months and has been a favorite of mine since years back. I was fortunate enough to make it to the Barrel, conveniently in the summer, at least twice on the Radcliffe family southern summer road trips. Here is where I fell in love. It's the perfect blend of cheese, chicken and spices and they even top it off with curly cue tortilla strips. To top this post off while in Nashville, well more correctly Lebanon, last week I visited the original CB. Food bliss! As you have just gotten a taste of...I love food. Good food. Colorful and flavorful food. This blog will celebrate the good food I meet and grow to love. Speaking of which, on Sunday sister and I dined at one of Tallahassee's many locally owned creative gourmet (that's the genre of food that is my favorite and this restaurant happens to classify) restaurant, Sage.

Sage originally was a French bakery called Mon Pere et Moi which specialized in chocolates and croissants. Now it's the best of both worlds. They are owned by the same family and now offer everyday French inspired food. They have a new brunch on Sundays called Blunch so we checked it out! We were not disappointed. We tasted roasted red pepper hummus, fresh garden salads, French onion soup, and the Ali-good--a turkey, brie, and raspberry jam on toasted croissant. Yum! I will be going back very soon for dinner to have their Grilled Georgia Peach salad. I've had it before and it's worth it.

Right before we got our check my boss, her sister and mother walked in to also enjoy blunch at Sage. I love seeing generations of family gathered together. They said they were out for a girl's afternoon to which we both replied Sister's Weekend (like it's a national holiday or something) as we nodded our heads in unison. Oh how I love my sister. Sometimes ;)

So cheers to sisters! It was a weekend to remember.

(And if you do not have a sister, Holly and I will gladly adopt you and call you sister!)

...I'm beginning to notice that instead of entries I write quasi-novels. Therefore I hope you like to read!
