here comes the sun

True fact: Time change is a double edged sword.

True fact: I overslept on Sunday morning.

Oh, I heard my alarm clock alright. But vaguely remembering picking it up, seeing no glimpse of sunlight shining through my window, and then gently placing back on my bedside table. C'est la vie I suppose. The upside to our dark mornings is a longer lit evening which makes me very happy! I would prefer it this way year round.

The rest of my weekend was absolutely lovely. On Friday night David and traveled to Crawfordville for a surprise birthday party for Sister's mother-in-law, Renn. I just adore Renn. She was totally surprised and was thrilled to see all of her family there to not only welcome her back from a long 3-week work trip but to celebrate her birthday.

On Saturday morning I met a fellow JLT member at the Leon County Civic Center to see the spaces we have on reserve for November's Jingle Jubilee. It is going to be huge this year! We measured the spaces and visualized our gift market as next weekend we are actually going to attend THE Gift Market in Atlanta to make decorating selections. Am I thrilled?? Beyond.

Then I met David, Lane, Sister and babes at the newly re-opened Mockingbird Cafe! They've expanded their weekend brunch menu and it. is. good. They also have their yummy tomato basil bisque as a permanent menu items thanks to my request {stop rolling your eyes - it's true!}. The MC has done a lot to their new space and I know it will only get better as they settle and grow in their new nest. The crowd was bustling as well so they seem to be off to a good start. And the best part was that I was able to dodge my 75+ boyfriend who frequented the Havana MC more than I did... and on more than one occasion offered me a glass of champagne {his drink of choice} and a lunch date. He too has followed them to their new establishment.

After a fabulous lunch I headed off to babysit The Critters for the first time. They are 10 mos. today! And if you don't know who I'm talking about you must follow their blog. Chris is a hoot and the triplets are too cute. We had a lovely afternoon of napping, feeding, and playing simultaneously times three. Sally Kate and Camp came for a play date while I was there.

I joined the Mica clan for supper that evening and we had a delicious meal. I had seared tuna, gouda grits, and caramelized onions and mushrooms. I so enjoy David's family being in the same town.

M & D and Michael came to town on Sunday and we had a relaxing day. Some of the boys played golf while we had a girls blunch at Sage. Mom and Marcus prepared a delicious home cooked meal for everyone on Sunday night and it was so good. Marcus got a smoker for his birthday and made the best smoked chicken. We also had my mother's amazing macaroni and cheese and green bean casserole. Yes, it really was that good.

A lovely weekend indeed. I was fulfilled in so many ways - both literally and physically. It made waking up in the dark that much easier on this Monday morning.
