Lots of events happened this past weekend and I wasn't going to miss a thing! The Winter Jam 2010 came through town on Friday night and I convinced David and his sister to join me! As David says "I'm up on Christian radio music." It's true I am. There's nothing more uplifting to listen to. So when I heard the tour was coming to town and Third Day would be there - there was no question I was not going to go. In fact, I almost went by myself. Now let me tell you, the some of the crowd movement was not quite my cup of tea but the music was amazing. Newsboys {lead singer used to be in DC Talk way back when} closed down the house with Jesus Freak...and someone I was sitting next too was excited.
On Saturday we met the Edenfields down at the island to celebrate Marcus's 30th birthday and go to the annual chili cook-off benefiting the volunteer fire department. The weather was absolutely gorgeous - not a cloud in the sky and warm enough to enjoy being outside. The cook-off was interesting {as are all feshtivuhls in the Redneck Riveria} but it was fun to be with family and friends. Sister and I even found some veggie chili that was quite flavorful!
That night we met up with some friends staying at the Water Street Hotel & Marina in Apalach and then headed to The Owl for a yummy birthday dinner. It's a must to get oysters when you're anywhere near Apalach and so my favorite part of the meal was our fried oyster appetizer. A spotting of and quick hello to Heather Lane's aunt and uncle, all the way from Ocala, was a unexpected highlight. We ended dinner with a rendition of Happy Birthday and a delicious cake from The Cake Shop {who is moving to a new location!!!...far away from my house!}. We also had Cake Shop cupcakes back at our house for a late night snack and breakfast treat.
Sunday we drove home for another beautiful and relaxing day. We had an Oscars' supper club and a great end to a nice weekend. And all I have to say about that is...go Blindside!...and actresses please return your dresses to the bridesmaids you stole them from.

The family sighting is still cracking me up ;) Bike shorts for life, I will rest all comments there.
Winter Jam was in Memphis on Sunday nite ... I chose to live vicariously through your own Jesus Freak experience ;)
Love.
